T.U.F.F. Certification

OUR GOAL...

Our goal is to equip as many local establishments as possible with the tools they need to alleviate the misconceptions surrounding the employment of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  With this certification and the education that comes with it, employers will know the truth about hiring from this community and will not have concern for their ability to manage employees with special needs.  Our Unique Friends will recognize those local establishments certified and willing to hire and have confidence they will receive fair and equal treatment.

T.U.F.F Started in TX..

Only one state — Mississippi — ranks lower than Texas in providing Medicaid services and quality of life for individuals with disabilities, according to an annual report by United Cerebral Palsy/U.S. This report, The Case for Inclusion, tracks the progress of community living standards for Americans with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD). 

The Case for Inclusion – Texas ranks 50 out of 51 states.

IN THIS CERTIFICATION...

  • Employers will learn about an untapped community of individuals ready and their desire to be employed.

  • Employers will be guided into their role as leaders in the employment of individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities.

  • Employers will learn a step-by-step process for partnering with local school districts to bridge the uncharted waters of IDD employment.

  • Employers will be trained in employee sensitivity relations  

  • Employers will learn to identify various triggers and basic recovery techniques

  • Employers will be given guardianship communication training

  • Employers will learn the art of job carving
